Some large festivals have turned into major marketing events. One very popular annual event is operated by SXSW, which describes itself as follows:

  1. Interesting article and interesting events! Technology is definitely the future of our life. There are more and more technic elements in the large events to have guests experience the products, to enjoy the funky places. The necklace the Sony invented is so cool! It connects to Yelp and other apps in our daily life, and there is even a camera in it. I think it’s a very smart products for people with special needs to make their life much easier!

Marketing is no longer like the old one that leading customers buy things in adverting, combining with products desccription and scene experience, more and more people are willing to participate in such event. In addition, I love the Sony necklace, it looks so cool that I probably buy one as long as it is on the market.

  3. It is definitely a interesting and valuable event. Attracting an audience of tens of thousands every year, the South by Southwest festival offers huge opportunities for brands and marketing. Announcements and developments are eagerly debated on social media and most brands plan specific campaigns around the festival. And In the history of this event, the four examples of successful Brand Marketing get more and more people to focus on. The first one is The White House, which uploaded a photo from the event and noted that the President was the first incumbent to attend SXSW. And the most interesting one is Game of Thrones, which posted a show in SXSW, and this interactive element lets fans participate in the fantastical world of one of their favorite series.

Technology has grown greatly over the past years, making it almost a necessity due to all the task we can accomplish by just the touch of a button. Each day new products are being released showing that technology is only increasing.The sony necklace is a great example because it shows how companies are constantly innovating new ways to stay connected.

Just like Joe’s comment, we are no longer just buy products by looking the advertising. Today we can come to such events and directly touch and try what we are interested. I think the marketers know that simple ideas can have a big impact. It is in line with events like PAX and E3 in terms of the technology that is usually presented at the event. Big companies like Sony, Samsung, Microsoft, and others use events like SXSW as a platform to launch or showcase their new and experimental products. Events like these make the advancement of technology so much better, because developers get feedback before products go live and consumers are informed of new advancements before they hit the shelves. I want to make it out to an event like SXSW or PAX East some time soon, because the atmosphere at these kinds of events always seems awesome.

Initially I was only aware of the music performances which bring along their own advertisement and marketing, but I was unaware of the business conferences and ability for many creative minds to collaborate. A showcase such as SXSW is an unparalleled way to promote technology and it is even more amazing to see how much it changes year by year.

  10. This looks like a really cool event, and one that i would love to go to! It’s amazing how much marketing a production like this needs to have. People don’t realize it. Marketing is no longer just found in retail, it is also found in advertising, and so much more. Marketing has grown so much as a professional field, there are so many career options.
