It is hard to believe that 17 years have passed since the awful events of 9-11-2001. As we said last year: 9-11-01 remains “one of the worst days in American history — a tragedy that many of us will remember forever. On this anniversary, it is a good time to reflect.” Today, we need to spend some time commemorating 9-11-2018.
Commemorating 9-11-2018
“Tribute in Light is a commemorative public art installation first presented six months after 9-11 and then every year thereafter. It’s open from dusk to dawn, at night on September 11. It has become an iconic symbol that both honors those killed and celebrates the unbreakable spirit of New York. On the anniversary of 9-11, the Memorial Plaza is open to the public from 3 P.M. to midnight for the viewing of Tribute in Light. And it can also be viewed from a 60-mile radius around lower Manhattan.”

What happened on September 11th 17 years ago was horrible. It is so nice to see special things done to remember what happened. I love that Tribute in Light remembers those who sacrificed for our country, and also sheds a positive light on how everyone in our state and country came together to support each other in such a terrible time.
Tribute in Light is a reminder of where the twin towers once stood and a memorial to all those who lost their lives there. Even though there is a new World Trade Center, the lights continue to remind us of what took place on that horrific day. I have never been to the 9/11 memorial however, I would love to visit there one day.
September 11th was a devastating day for thousands of Americans. It is a day when all Americans should always take time to remember those fallen and those affected by the tragedy. Tribute in Light is a beautiful remembrance that reminds us that one day not long ago those towers were standing. It’s amazing to see that people can make such beautiful things after such destruction.
It is crazy to think that something so tragic happened so close to home for many of us. The Tribute in Light memorial began to commemorate 9-11 only six months after it occurred. This shows how much of an impact 9-11 had on the lives of many. Not only does it show that, it makes it clear how strong and close knit New York is. That is one aspect that I love about this place. The memorial does a great job honoring one of the worst days ever in America. Many are sending their prayers to New York and the victims and their families, since today marks 17 years ago since it occurred. It is important, however, to pray for them everyday, and “never forget” the unfortunate tragedies that were caused.
September 11th has always been a very somber and reflective day. Growing up in New York, the aftermath of the horrific attacks are still deeply felt in the heart of every New Yorker as well as people from all around the world. The stories that I’ve been told from this day symbolize to me the strength and perserverence of Americans. The humanity and compassion shown by complete strangers in the days and weeks following the attacks will forever be stronger than the hate it intended to cause. I hope to one day visit the memorial and maybe even see the Tribute in Light.
It is crazy to believe that 9/11 was 17 years ago today. This day is extremely sober and now allows us to reflect and come together to mourn the loss of so many heroes and family members. The Tribute of Lights helps to remind us of all the men, women, and families affected in this time of tragedy and allow them to come together to support each other through this anniversary.
Being born and raised in New York City, 9/11 was a time that created great fear into the lives of everyday Americans, especially New Yorkers. “Tribute in Light” is a beautiful way to express how Americans are still deeply remembering the horrors of 9-11 and are still mourning for the loss of many people. I think it was a great way for people to come together and share the common feeling of grief even if they personally did not lose anyone to 9-11.
It is crazy to think that a tragedy like this even happened. It is incredible to believe that 9/11 happened 17 years ago and all around the world people are remembering with great sorrow what happened that day. It was a catastrophic day for many Americans which is why The Tribute in Light memorial opened its doors to commemorate only six months after the tragedy. This memorial is what brings the people of New York together, and leaves a mark with a meaning, which is to never forget what happened that day.
It is hard to believe that 9/11 occurred over 17 years ago, especially when it is still such a fresh wound for many New Yorkers. I love the fact that the artist used any negative energy from this event towards the creation of the Tribute in Light. Rather than dwelling on the tragedy, the artist has and will continue to encourage those around him/her to fully embody the newfound American solidarity that the installation represents. I am inspired to visit the memorial myself in the near future.
It is unbelievable that it has been seventeen years since the horrible event of 9/11. I really like the design of Tribute in Light, which represents the Twin Towers in remembrance of the 9/11 attack. Though I haven’t gotten the chance to visit the place in-person, the Tribute in Light video has reminded me of how many people lost their lives there. 9/11 will never be forgotten, and will remain a painful memory forever.
