I think this post is very useful because as a college student aspiring to be in the finance field I had a chance to see that your salary really depends on your skill level and position you acquire. These links are very convenient especially for college freshman who still have time to change their major or are undecided on what they want to do, but do know they want to make a certain amount of money. Playing around with the customized salary calculator on Robert Half’s website showed me that many different factors play into the range one can expect. I manipulated my desired position’s seniority level, location, and areas of specialization to better refocus my goals.
This is a very useful post when trying to find more information on salaries in job fields that you’re interested in pursuing. These links help especially younger college students plan out what it is that they want to do in the future.
I played around with the salary calculator for accounting jobs and pin pointed it to my situation in a few years. I compared salaries between audit jobs in New York City vs. Long Island and saw the salary is higher working in New York City. It was not surprising because the standard of living in NYC is significantly higher than living on Long Island. I have always wanted to live on Long Island and work but working in the city sounds interesting after reading this post.
Good use of salary calculator
I attended my brother’s graduation from Villanova in May 2017. Michael Bloomberg stated in his commencement address to the graduates, “Don’t take a job based on salary. Take the job that you’ll enjoy working at and then work like crazy”. Although salary is important when looking for a job it isn’t the only thing. I hope to find a position where I make a good salary but I can grow and do well with the company.
For me, salary is an important factor of my future career. I’m an accounting major and I’m interested in pursuing audit/assurance. This calculator allowed me to see the salary I can expect to see when I graduate in 2020. I really found this calculator useful because of all the factors it takes into consideration. I also really liked being able to see the difference in salary when I changed the job title from “audit/assurance” to “tax services.” Also, seeing how the location would affect my salary was also interesting.
It’s good to see these different salaries and working trends for 2019, the salary is important to the employees, but as a young professional, we should also focus on the our self development, the networking resource in these industries. also I’m happy to see that in the marketing field, digital marketing and digital strategist are the top popular jobs in 2019.
