If you are a celebrity, what happens when your team’s or league’s sponsor is different from the one whom you company personally endorse?

This is a frequent challenge for prominent sports celebrities in team sports. According to Chris Chase, writing for USA Today, such a scenario has recently embroiled Tom Brady (star NFL quarterback of the New England Patriots) in a much-reported controversy: “The Nike coverup continued Wednesday when Under Armour endorser Tom Brady showed up to a news conference with a piece of tape over the swoosh on the left arm of his official team sweatshirt.” Note: Nike is the official — and exclusive — apparel sponsor of NFL logo apparel, and pays millions of dollars per year for this right.
